Sourcing

Sourcing at TPC is about managing your total cost of care, not chasing a line-item discount.

The approach

We optimize the national GPO model rather than simply resell it.

TPC works through a performance-based Vizient partnership combined with TPC-custom contracts built specifically for your organization. That produces better pricing, curated portfolio options and dedicated support across med/surg, pharmacy, purchased services and beyond.

Our supply chain vision is to create programs that drive financial improvement for members while maintaining clinical excellence. Clinical Value Analysis Teams, made up of member clinicians, validate the clinical efficacy of products. Member supply chain leaders determine and capture the financial value. We use the Vizient Savings Actualizer so members have a clear line of sight into savings achieved over time.

Purchased Services is one of the most consistently undermanaged categories of spend in independent hospitals, and one of the highest-opportunity areas in our portfolio. Our vision is to be the comprehensive resource for decentralized services, bringing market intelligence and peer benchmarking to categories most organizations negotiate in isolation.

For more than three decades TPC has provided Sourcing services for Members. Through a collaborative approach, TPC and Members identify, evaluate, and contract on initiatives and develop programs that maximize the financial, operational and clinical value that Members receive from their supplier relationships in the areas of Supply Chain and Purchased Services.

Supply Chain

TPC Supply Chain services enable hospitals to aggregate their volume to wield increased purchasing power. TPC collaborates with various Member stakeholders to create a better understanding of the market landscape and drive better decision making. Together, we level-set available opportunities across multiple manufacturers in complex categories and drive strategies that optimize value. TPC works with supply chain leaders, Clinical Value Analysis Teams (CVATs) and Physician Sub-Committees (PSCs) comprised of clinical leaders from each Member facility. These groups offer functionally equivalent, cost-effective solutions to promote a culture of clinical excellence and financial stewardship for all TPC Members. Functional equivalence is determined by objective review of the product using specific, predetermined criteria, and not based on clinical or operational preference.

By drawing upon the combined expertise of Members, TPC gives physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other clinical specialists a method to evaluate products and assess their financial value, as well as their impact on the quality of care. We have found a niche in custom contracting for high-value, complex PPI categories, such as spine and cardiology. By initiating conversations with physicians early in the process, we can more effectively evaluate and analyze differences across products and vendors, engage in the most favorable partnerships and develop the most successful programs.

Purchased Services

For a hospital that has never ventured deep into understanding Purchased Services, it can seem like an overwhelming task. Where do you start? What data should you use? How do you know a good contract from a bad contract? In order to achieve industry-leading results in Purchased Services, it is essential for a hospital to have an experienced partner – a partner like TPC.

TPC has built a distinct regional model based on collective participation and high commitment that has proven itself successful in the area of Purchased Services. Backed by more than 25 years of Purchased Services contracting experience, TPC has demonstrated industry-leading results year after year. Through strong participation in our programs, TPC Members have achieved more than 14 percent average savings in key service categories including energy, foodservice, environmental services, maintenance, lab services, and freight and logistics.

Through our dedicated resources and focus, TPC works directly with our Members to fully engage a complete Purchased Services strategy. Together, we aggregate Member volume and enter the market as a single, committed contracting entity. We work with Members to maximize the value they receive from supplier relationships, and continue to manage contracts throughout their lifecycle. We support our Members across conversion, implementation, and utilization so they are able to achieve the greatest value they can from TPC programs.

You don't have to do it on your own. By partnering with TPC you have access to resources and expertise that can greatly improve your success.

Stronger Together. Superior Results.

Members reach these results by working the programs together. If your organization is weighing what that looks like, the next step is a conversation.
